Nestled within the scenic western mountains close to Madrid, Spain, Casamontesa, designed by Lucas y Hernández-Gil of Kresta Design, stands on the crossroads of nostalgia and state-of-the-art design. Initially constructed within the Seventies as a part of a resort sophisticated, the bungalow reveals an intriguing fusion of rustic allure and mid-century state-of-the-art aesthetics, wrapped in a contact of kitsch. Regardless of its quirky parts, the home has retained its character, which turned the focus of a cautious redesign.

The homeowners, a active teenage couple from the bustling heart of Madrid, sought a retreat that mixed state-of-the-art consolation with a deep connection to the encompassing pure magnificence. Their need was clear: a compact but useful area that harmonized with its lush backyard and provided a tranquil escape from metropolis life. Addressing each the architectural and inside design challenges, the objective was to reshape the house in a approach that enhanced its relationship with the outside whereas making the interiors extra airy and useful.

A key facet of the renovation was reimagining the home windows. The design group created immense, recessed frames that not solely carry extra lightweight into the home but additionally remodel the views into framed artworks, highlighting the fantastic thing about the pure environment. These deep window containers are a particular characteristic of the renovation, offering a way of openness and integration with the panorama.

Inside, a customized kitchen island turned the centerpiece of the house, serving a number of features: an area for cooking, eating, and even working. This multifunctional island, anchors the inside design and serves as a gathering level, emphasizing the open-plan format of the home.

To create a way of cohesion, the designers employed handmade burgundy tiles to line each the window recesses and the kitchen island. The shiny floor of those tiles contrasts with the house’s different supplies, together with Campaspero stone flooring and waxed plaster partitions, which provide a muted, textured backdrop to the lively tiles. This interaction of textures and finishes provides depth and richness to the general aesthetic.
